Dili, 21 March 2025 – Centro Nacional Chega! I.P. has signed a Partnership Agreement (PA) with three Municipal Memorial Museums, including those in Aileu, Covalima, and Baucau. The MoU allocated $14,000.00 (USD) to each Memorial Museum to support the reinforcement of administration and operations, as well as activities outlined in a plan focused on collecting, documenting, and transcribing historical narratives for public accessibility.
In addition, this PA is to respond to the Mission of Centro Chega!I.P, “promoting the implementation of CAVR and PMAS recommendations, regarding the institutionalizing memories and human rights promotion through education, training, and solidarity to the most survivors of human rights violation and even promote the CAVR and PMAS recommendation on the establishment of National Center or Memory, Research, and Learning.”
The validity of the Partnership Agreement (PA) from the date of signing is not bound by a termination date. The important thing is that beneficiaries provide Narrative and Financial Reports to Centro Chega!
The Municipal Memorial Museums are integral to the Integrated Memorialization Program, which aims to prevent future violence. It is achieved through various mechanisms, such as creating platforms for people and communities from diverse ethnic, cultural, and political backgrounds to share their histories with community involvement in dialogue and memorialization. The program emphasizes the preservation of historical memories by documenting and disseminating narratives to the public, fostering a common understanding of policies and programs on how to use historical memories.
From 2021 to 2024, Centro Nacional Chega!I.P. established four Municipal Memorial Museums (MMM) in Aileu, Bobonaro, Covalima, and Viqueque. In 2025, Centro Chega! Established one more MMM in Manatuto.
