(Dili, 27 of March 2024), the public institute of Centro Nacional Chega!I.P held a regular meeting with the strategic partners for implementing the recommendations of Chega! And CVA (The Commission for Truth and Friendship) known as PMAS (Per Memoriam As Spem / From Memory to Hope) reports.

The principal of the regular meeting was to disseminate information on politics, programs, and activities related to the implementation of recommendations of Chega! and PMAS, including the mandate of Centro Chega!. It was the means of communicating mutually on the programs of Centro Chega! and the strategic partners to elaborate the implementation process.

The Strategic Partners meeting was to cooperate the services with institutions to implement the recommendations of Chega! and PMAS to integrate and incorporate both reports within their politics and programs, ensuring that reports of Chega! and PMAS recommendations and the mandate of Centro Chega! to be implemented appropriately.

Thus, the Strategic Partners meeting to implement the recommendations of Chega! and PMAS based on the recommendation of Chega! cited in line 13 that institutions must continue to implement Chega! Report as part of the national effort to build a society based on the truth and recognition of the past, non-violence, reconciliation, and reparation.

The report of CAVR has 204 recommendations, which the Truth Commission handed over to the states of Timor-Leste and Indonesia 5 years ago. Due to Chega! report that CAVR produced was unrecognized by the Indonesian government. Therefore, Timorese leaders keep proving their intelligence by building the bilateral commission between two countries (Indonesia and Timor-Leste) known as the Commission for Truth and Friendship (CVA).

After the bilateral commission was established, the commission worked for 3 years and focused on a deeper investigation regarding the 1999 conflicts that occurred before and after the popular consultation. It was then, that the commission succeeded in producing commission reports of Per Memoriam Ad Spem (PMAS) or From Memory to Hope.

Therefore, after the establishment of Centro Nacional Chega!I.P in July 2017, Centro Chega! Commenced to conduct regular meetings with the strategic partners to implement the recommendations of Chega! and PMAS. These partners are involved in different Working Groups based on each thematic area. These groups are ministerial lines, independent institutions, civil societies, and academics who have shown some progress, particularly in how to adopt the Chega! and PMAS recommendations in their plan and programs, including the funds, even if some partners have not implemented, but Centro Nacional Chega!I.P keeps prompting them to implement.
