Dili – (14th of December 2023), Centro Nacional Chega!I.P desired to congratulate the deceased Sisto dos Santos and his families concerning the Human Rights Award attribution “Sergio Viera de Mello” with the Civil and Political Rights class received from the President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, H.E. José Ramos Horta.
The attributed award according to Decree Law No. 124/2023 from the President of the Republic. The espouse, Mrs. Anita Cardoso, received an award at the Palace of the President in Aitarak-laran, Dili.
The principal attribution of the Human Rights Awarded for the deceased Sistos dos Santos aimed to acknowledge his services on human rights promotion and dissemination, mainly Civil and Political Rights in Timor-Leste.
In 2023, the President of the Republic attributed the Human Rights Award for the people of Timor and Foreigners significance of the 10th of December as the Human Rights International Day under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly United Nations Organizations.
Every year, the Human Rights Award “Sergio Viera de Mello” is attributed to Timorese, foreigners, and governmental and non-governmental organizations by the President of the Republic on the Promotion, Defense, and dissemination of Human Rights.
The deceased Sisto dos Santos was the Director of HAK and a Member of the Administration Council of Centro Nacional Chega!I.P took his last breath on 17th of March 2023 at HNGV, Dili.
